Sixty five days of sunny, summer festival will end today with celebrations taking place at Modhesh Fun City (MFC).
The highlight of DSS 2008 was the inclusion of the 'Tens of Surprises' theme where instead of Ten Surprises, numerous international entertainment shows were organised to provide visitors with an array of activities to choose from.
Along, with Tens of Surprises, signature event from previous editions of DSS were also included.
Laila Suhail, chief executive of Dubai Shopping Festival Office, speaking to Gulf News said, "We have marked Dubai with another successful DSS edition."
The main attraction for this summer was MFC. The venue saw over 400,000 visitors during the festival. For an even organised by DSS, this was the biggest number yet, officials said.
Ahmad Ali, manager of MFC said the location "proved to be the favourite destination for families during DSS with hundreds of thousands of visitors within Dubai and the UAE, and from all around the region."
Khulood Al Thani, marketing manager of DSF Office said, "Apart from targeting the GCC, Middle East, North Africa, and Europe markets, the DSF Office ventured into China and Japan, two new markets that we will be exploring in the coming years."
Suhail said the response from the shopping malls in Dubai was positive, as they had a great number of visitors and large consumer spending.
"Every year there is an improvement in the quality of events and sponsor satisfaction," she said, adding that the objective of keeping every single mall busy was achieved.
